TODDLER/NURSERY CHILD CARE ASSISTANT

REPORTS TO: RISENKIDS DIRECTOR
RELATES CLOSELY WITH: NURSERY AND TODDLER CLASS VOLUNTEERS AND PARENTS
CLASSIFICATION: PART-TIME/HOURLY (Approx. 2.5 hrs/week) 
HOURLY RATE: $23/hr

Overview

We are seeking a reliable caregiver/helper who can be an assistant in our church toddler class every Sunday from approx. 10:00am-12:30pm. Having a fully staffed toddler class allows parents to enjoy the benefits of hearing the sermon at church on Sundays, and socializes the children at this important stage in their development. The age range of children is 2-4 years old, with a "transition" period from about 2-2.5yrs. and 4-4.5yrs. We may occasionally ask you to assist in the Nursery class and care for children in the 0-2 age range. You will not be changing diapers or bringing children to the bathroom, nor expected to help potty-training children.

We desire to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and work to bring the good news of salvation through Jesus to our surrounding community. We don’t have all the answers, nor do we have it all together. Rather, we are imperfect people who are learning the way of Jesus. ​

 

Responsibilities include helping the Lead Toddler Teacher to:

  • Set up snack/water cups and supplies for activities.

  • Help gather and walk with toddlers from the main worship hall to the toddler classroom.

  • Supervise and help children participate in activities under the direction of the Lead Toddler Teacher.

  • Tidy up supplies and remove trash to the communal trash bin.

  • Reset classroom desks and chairs during cleanup (we currently meet in a classroom at California Crosspoint Academy, Industrial Blvd, Hayward).

  • Assist in transporting equipment, toys, and storage bins on a cart to and from the storage room to classroom.

  • Regular communication with RisenKids Director and other volunteers to communicate absences in advance. 

  • Will be offered additional opportunities to provide childcare for children 0-12 at various church events throughout the year (outside of regular Sunday Service). 

 

Personal Qualifications: 

  • Willingness to respect and encourage children to participate in toddler class activities that are based in the tenants of the Christian faith (the bible). 

  • Genuine care for all the children. 

  • Positive and respectful attitude toward parents. 

 

Professional Qualifications: 

  • Experience in caring for small children. 

  • Willingness to go through a thorough safety screening and training (Live Scan, Third-Party Background Check, interviews with RisenKids team, abuse-prevention training).  

  • Possess sensitivity to ethnic, cultural, and generational differences.

  • Willingness to receive training in child CPR.​
